Kha ri gude literacy campaign
If you have had any previous literacy or completed an adult basic education and training (ABET) educator's course this will be especially relevant for you work in this campaign. If you do not have any training in adult basic education and training, your supervisor will give you the support you need.

The Kha ri gude literacy campaign will give you the opportunity (especially if you have not been exposed to work situations) to use the knowledge and skills you gained from any previous ABET studies. As a participant in the Kha ri gude literacy campaign, you will receive an allowance (or stipend), which means you will earn a bit of money. You will also contribute to the development of the most neglected and disadvantaged communities, especially in the rural areas and informal settlements. In adddition, this campaign is an historic event in the educational history of South Africa, and you have the opportunity to play a role in it. (taken from the Volunteer's Handbook - Kha ri gude)
